2A - Alma Thomas

Welcome to 2A

 

Teacher: Mrs Anunobi

Alma Thomas was an American artist born in 1891 in Georgia, USA. She was an amazing artist and a teacher.

She loved using bright and bold colours in her paintings. She would regularly use small rectangle blocks in her art.

Science and nature inspired her art. She inspired her students to look closely at nature and to use patterns and colours to create art that made them happy.

Alma Thomas’s work has continued to be popular and in 2021, one of her paintings was sold for millions of pounds. When Barack Obama was the president of the USA, his wife Michelle chose two of Alma’s paintings to be displayed in the White House, the home of the president and family.
