  • Mundesley Junior School visit Bruce Grove Primary May 2017

    Fri 26 May 2017

This week Mundesley Junior School visited their Year 5 pen pals.  They met in Trent Park had a lovely picnic together, played games and went for a woodland walk.  The next day the pen pals collaborated on various pieces of art work.  A great time was had by all.  For the Mundesley children it was the first time that some had ever come to London or ridden on the tube or been inside such a large school building.  Our children were delighted to meet their pen pals and realised that they had so much in common.  They are really looking forward to their visit to Mundesley on June 12th.

  • International Fayre 2017

    Fri 12 May 2017
On Friday 12th May the Bruce Grove Primary Community came out in their hundreds to attend a fantastic outdoor international fayre!  It is safe to say it was a resounding success.  The evening showcased delicious food and traditional dances from Poland, Albanian, Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Jamaica, the Caribbean, India, England and Turkey.  There were fun activities like a bouncy castle and face painting and stalls selling jewellery, henna, arts and crafts and much more.  'It was the best event yet, can't wait till next year,' said one parent.  A huge thank you to all the parents, staff and children who worked hard to make this wonderful event possible.  A special mention must be made of Mrs Maria Pires who galvanised everyone to take part and give of their best - get ready for next year Maria!
  • Cycling at the iconic Herne Hill Velodrome

Fri 12 May 2017 Mrs Edwards

7 lucky children in year 6 had an amazing day cycling at the iconic Herne Hill Velodrome.  The bike track was used in the first post WW2 Olympics in 1948 and is where Olympic gold medal winners Bradley Wiggins and Laura Trott rode as children. The children were introduced to track bikes which have no brakes and fixed wheels which means they can't stop until the rider is going really slowly and can grab  the railings. Our lucky 7 were taught how to start, stop and ride round the track including up the steep sides.  The even finished the day with a "pursuit" style race.

    Enjoy the pictures!
