Teacher:Ms Devicka Chauhan
Nursery practitioner: Sally Hughes
Teaching Assistant: Barbara Watson
Dear Parents and Carers,
Who could have imagined that we are where we were back in March 2020. The Nursery are an absolutely amazing group of children who fill the day with joy and laughter. I am so grateful to be their teacher. They will be truly missed. I look forward to seeing you all again very soon. I will put ideas for activities fro home learning on this page and Tapestry weekly. Please remember that the children learn through play and and it should be fun! Please do not add to your stress by trying to complete everything suggested. You can keep in touch via Tapestry or email. We would love you to upload photos on Tapestry when you can. If are not on Tapestry please send me your email address and you will receive an activation link.
Take care of yourselves and your families.
Warm thoughts and wishes,
Devicka, Sally and Barbara.
Alma Woodsey Thomas(1891-1978)
For Black History Month we looked at the art of Alma Thomas. She was an important role model for women, African-American artists, and older artists (she was recognized for her paintings after her retirement from teaching). She was also the first African-American woman to have a solo exhibition of her work at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art. Alma Thomas loved to smile and she liked to paint with bright colours. Primary colours were often used in her artwork to make her paintings look happy and vibrant. Thomas brings art for kids by inspiring them to look closely at nature and to use patterns and colours to create art that makes them happy.
The children are settling well in nursery.......
