Welcome to Oxford Circus Class
Class Teacher : Elaine Khwaja Teaching Assistant: Vera Krasniqi
The class enjoyed learning about the history of Oxford Circus and the numerous shops along Oxford Street. They researched the history of Selfridges which is one of the oldest department stores on Oxford Street.
We will visit Oxford Circus later in the year.
Black History Month
During October we have been celebrating Black History Month.
The children thoroughly enjoyed a session with Alim Kamara and several children were given the opportunity to play some of the African drums as well as participating in a dance session.
Visit to Bruce Castle Museum on 18th October 2018
The children enjoyed the exhibition 'Black Georgian London, People, Portraits and Perceptions'
They took part in a variety of activities including sketching portraits, dressing up in Georgian clothing and posing for portraits.
During October half term the children were set the task of making models of the Empire Windrush.
Here are some of the models.
Our history topic this term is Ancient Egypt.
The children have been learning about the Pharaohs and life in Ancient Egypt.
They had fun wrapping each other up as Mummies!
The children have been learning about light and shadows.
They had great fun in the playground casting shadows.
The children have been learning about 3D shapes and their properties and they produced some excellent 3D models.
First World War Centenary
The children have been learning about World War One and the impact it had on the lives of the soldiers and their respective families.
During our art lesson this week the children produced some lovely paintings of poppies.
THIS HALF TERM THE CHILDREN HAVE BEEN LEARNING ABOUT SOUND.
THEY HAD GREAT FUN INVESTIGATING THE SOUNDS MADE BY A VARIETY OF INSTRUMENTS AND EXPLORING HOW TO CHANGE THE PITCH.
The class designed colourful posters to advertise their 'Treats' stall.
They braved the cold weather and sold their treats to many happy customers.
Did they make a profit? Yes £33.00!
History Off the Page 13th December 2018
Year Three had the opportunity to participate in a day of fun activities including lamp making, carving shabtis, tomb painting, making perfume cones and many others.
In the afternoon the children participated in a banquet and performed Ancient Egyptian dances and acted in several dramas all choreographed and produced by the children.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed the day.
British Museum 16.1.19
Both Year 3 classes had a great day out at the British Museum.
They saw a variety of sculptures, mummies, jewellery, homeware and farming equipment, which was a great way to complete our topic on Ancient Egypt.

Bruce Grove Dance Festival February
The class performed a Frog dance.

Recycling Project February
All the children in school participated in a recycling project resulting in a beautiful mosaic displayed near to the school.
3K went to look at the mosaic.
World Book Day March
The children had fun dressing up as their favourite book characters.
Natural History Museum March 2019
The class had a great time at the museum looking at the wide variety of rocks and minerals and participating in a workshop about earthquakes and volcanoes .
Science Week March 2019
The children had fun designing and making paper aeroplanes and helicopters.
They had a competition to see which design travelled the greatest distance.They recorded the results in a block graph.
Our Science topic this term is Rocks and Soils. March 2019
The children found out how the various rocks are formed.
They enjoyed making sedimentary sandwiches and eating them .
Geography Topic Volcanoes and Earthquakes March 2019
The children had fun making their volcanoes.
History topic The Romans June 2019
The class painted some beautiful Roman vases using Pointillism.
Class trip to Oxford Circus and Hyde Park July 2019
The children had a fun day out visiting Oxford Circus and the many shops and places of interest , including The London Palladium, Hamleys, Selfridges, John Lewis and many more.
They had the opportunity to perform a dance outside Hamleys which was well received by many tourists.
They then went to Hyde Park where they had a picnic and played a variety of games.
