Welcome to 2L
Welcome to 2L.
All classes have been named after lines on the Victoria Line, we are named Stockwell Class. Over the first few weeks of school, we learnt about the area Stockwell and how to use a tube map. So now the children should be able to show their adults how to get around on the Underground. If you don't believe us, go and look at our display in the downstairs hall.
The week starting 19th November was Enterprise Week. This involved each class coming up with an food and drink related idea which we could sell to the rest of the school. As a class we decided to make Milkshakes. We designed our own cup labels on the computer and came up with 3 flavours of milkshake (Amazing Vanilla, The Merry Berry and Heavenly White Chocolate).
As a class we made £61.40 putting us third in the whole school. Well Done 2L
Black History Month
During October we have been celebrating Black History Month. This was kicked off with a fun session with Alim Karmara who was enjoyed by children, teachers and for the first time parents.
We have also been learning to play the popular African game of Mancala, with the child taking on their peers as well as their teacher.
Science - Flying Mice
In Science we have been looking at forces and how objects move.
The flying mouse experiment, got the children to investigate the effects of air pressure, air resistance and gravity. As they learnt that when you squeeze a bottle, it is having the same affect as a rocket. The children designed their mice in many different shapes and sizes, some wide and flat and others tall and narrow. Then we competed against each other so that we could see which shape worked the best.
Here are some pictures of us competing.
During Autumn term we have been learning about the history of transport. As a fun activity, we made our own London busses from used boxes. Here is the process and outcome from our hard work.
